Balmain South Sydney's Tahmid Islam wins the 2022/23 Shires First Grade Player of the Year

Balmain South Sydney First Captain Tahmid Islam was announced as the 2022/23 Shires First Grade Player of the Year at the Annual Shires Premiers Dinner on May 12, 2023.


Tahmid made it back-to-back First Grade Player of the Year awards, after winning in 2021/22, by topping the voting tally on 21 points ahead of North West Sydney’s Corey Lowe and Burwood Briars Brenton Wright on 13 points. Points are awarded by the Umpires on a 3-2-1 basis in each First Grade match during the preliminary rounds only.


During the regular season Tahmid scored 363 runs at an average of 40.33 including a highest score of 106 and took 43 wickets at an average of 14.02 with a best bowling figures of 7-30.
